Peter, struggling with self-discovery, focuses his affections on his mother, but her own unfulfilled longings prevent her from addressing his needs. Peter finds solace in a radical youth gang led by Axel, a boy from the upper class who treats him coldly like Peter's mother. When his mother starts a relationship with a young man, she becomes so consumed that she ignores Peter further.
