Crying Freeman follows the story of a secret Chinese assassin who sheds tears of regret each time he executes his targets. While carrying out a hit on three Yakuza gangsters, he is witnessed by a beautiful artist who becomes captivated by his graceful killing technique and later falls in love with him. An intense power struggle ensues among the Yakuza Clans after their leader's death, leading them to seek vengeance against the assassin. They soon realize the fatal mistake of underestimating the deadly skills of Crying Freeman.
