Don't Go in the House follows Donald 'Donny' Kohler, a disturbed man with a traumatic past involving his abusive mother who used fire as punishment when he was young. As an adult, Donny stalks women at clubs and takes them to his old house in New Jersey where he kills them using a flamethrower. The movie involves a series of these stalking and murder scenes, interspersed with flashbacks of Donny's childhood trauma.
Released in 1979, 'Don't Go in the House' is an American horror film directed by Joseph Ellison. The film is known for its exploitative content and was once considered a 'video nasty'. It explores themes of abuse, mental instability, and revenge through the character of Donny Kohler, who becomes a serial killer targeting women after experiencing severe emotional trauma from his mother's sadistic punishment methods involving fire. Despite being set in New Jersey, some scenes were shot in New York City, including disco club sequences.
