In 'Historia Roja,' set during and after World War II, the commanding officer of the National Armed Forces in Mazowsze is assassinated by Soviet soldiers in the spring of 1945. His younger brother, Mieczyslaw Dziemieszkiewicz, then joins the National Military Union to continue fighting against Soviet tyranny. Mieczyslaw becomes the commander of a partisan unit and engages in guerrilla warfare for six years to free Poland from communist rule by targeting UB agents and their collaborators.
