La femme défendue follows François, a 39-year-old man who meets Muriel, a 22-year-old virgin. He repeatedly invites her to fine restaurants and eventually convinces her to meet at a hotel where he plans to see her naked but not have sex with her. However, he breaks his promise during their first encounter. Despite this, they continue their relationship until Muriel starts dating someone else. She confides in her new boyfriend about François, who then contacts François's wife leading to their divorce. When they accidentally meet again on the street, Muriel shows no remorse or intent to harm François.
La femme défendue is a French drama directed by Philippe Harel released in 1997. It is known for its unique use of subjective camera technique, with nearly all scenes consisting of close-ups of Isabelle Carré's face who plays Muriel. The film explores themes of sexuality and relationships between older men and younger women through the story of François and Muriel.
