Argumento
Ellen orders an African hand-carved mask from Rome, believing it will help with her fertility issues. Upon receiving a wrong mask, Ellen begins experiencing waking nightmares and hallucinations of a demonic figure she calls the Nightmare Man. Her husband William and doctors diagnose her as paranoid schizophrenic and plan to admit her to the Devonshire Institute. On their way there, their car breaks down. William leaves Ellen in the car to find gas, and the Nightmare Man appears, attacking Ellen. She escapes through the woods and arrives at a house occupied by two couples for the weekend. Ellen is unsure whether the Nightmare Man is real or a figment of her imagination, as are the couples. Meanwhile, William discovers Ellen has escaped but decides not to call the police, fearing she's delusional.
