Argumento
After serving two years in prison for accepting a bribe—a charge he maintains was false—former newspaper reporter Harry Barber is released, harboring bitterness and a desire for revenge. He takes on a job arranged by Mrs. Malroux to stage the kidnapping of her stepdaughter, the daughter of a dying millionaire. The plan is for Barber to demand ransom money from the girl's father while Mrs. Malroux keeps him in the dark about her true intentions. However, as events unfold, Barber realizes that he has been set up and that everyone involved seems to have their own agenda.
