Mimma, an innocent country girl from the suburbs of Rome, reluctantly enters the sex trade in the 1950s to financially support her boyfriend. Renamed 'Paprika' by Madame Colette who runs a brothel, Mimma finds herself enjoying her new life despite its initial reluctance. She attracts her first client, naval officer Franco, but continues her climb through the industry, moving from one illustrious brothel to another in Rome. Despite her successful career and financial independence, Paprika yearns for true love.
Directed by Tinto Brass, 'Paprika' is a 1991 Italian erotic drama based on a novel. The film follows Mimma's transformation into 'Paprika,' exploring themes of self-discovery, sexual liberation, and the complexities of love within the context of prostitution in Rome before its brothels were banned.
