Max feels restrained by their relationship, while Coco is jealous and protective of it. One night, Max accidentally dials a wrong number and becomes captivated by the voice on the other end who simply says 'Hello'. Driven by curiosity and a desire to escape Coco's possessiveness, Max begins nightly explorations of Berlin in search of the mysterious woman. He eventually finds her in a billiard salon; she introduces herself as Marie and is accompanied by her partner Kurt. Soon after, Max and Marie are involved in a car accident that leaves them alone together. They share an impulsive, passionate moment on the street in the rain before parting ways. When Max and Coco host a party, Marie and Kurt arrive unexpectedly, causing Max to attempt to pair his girlfriend with Marie's partner.
