Historia
During the early stages of World War II, Captain Salvatore Todaro of the Italian Royal Navy submarine Cappellini encounters a Belgian merchant ship adrift at sea. Seeing that the crew is in danger of drowning, Todaro makes the unprecedented decision to save them by taking them aboard his submarine despite the risks involved. To accommodate everyone on board, he navigates the submarine on the surface for three days, exposing themselves to enemy forces and putting his life and those of his men at grave risk.
