Argumento
Lieutenant Nick Gentry lives a solitary life after his colleague's death, which he partly blames himself for. Reporter Joan becomes interested in him for a story but also shows personal interest, which he rebuffs. Meanwhile, Nick develops feelings for his new neighbor Irene, who is repeatedly abused by her husband Allan. One day, when Allan threatens Irene with a gun that turns out to be inoperable, Nick shoots him, initially believing it was self-defense.
