Rosa Salazar (/ˈsæləzɑːr/), born July 16, 1985, in Washington D.C., to Peruvian father Luis and French-Canadian mother Marilynne, started entertaining others from age fifteen. She attended Greenbelt Middle School and Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Maryland, studied drama at Prince George's Community College, and later at Upright Citizens Brigade. After moving to New York City, she appeared in CollegeHumor sketches before relocating to Los Angeles in 2009. Salazar made her film debut in 'Jamesy Boy' (2012), followed by recurring roles on 'American Horror Story: Murder House' and 'Parenthood'. She gained prominence with roles in 'The Divergent Series', 'Maze Runner', 'Bird Box', and 'Alita: Battle Angel', for which she won awards. Salazar also directed and starred in the short film 'Good Crazy' (2016). She was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2023.
