Margaret Ruth Kidder, known professionally as Margot Kidder, was born on October 17, 1948, in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (now part of Canada). She began her acting career in Canadian films and TV in the 1960s before gaining international recognition. Kidder is best known for her role as Lois Lane in four Superman films from 1978 to 1987. Her other notable works include 'Black Christmas' (1974) and 'The Amityville Horror' (1979). In the 1990s, Kidder faced significant health challenges including a car accident and a publicized mental breakdown due to bipolar disorder. Post-2000, she continued acting in independent films and TV shows, winning a Daytime Emmy Award in 2015. She passed away on May 13, 2018.
