In the early 2000s in Amherst, Ohio, Hope Ann Greggory wins a bronze medal in women's gymnastics at the Olympics, becoming a local hero. Years later, she remains stuck in her small town, living off her past glory and reduced to stealing money from her father's mail deliveries. When Hope's former coach Pavleck commits suicide, a letter addressed to Hope arrives stating that if she can guide Pavleck's promising gymnastics student Maggie Townsend to the Olympics in Toronto, she will receive a $500,000 inheritance. Hope reluctantly agrees to train Maggie, threatening her local celebrity status.
'Bronze' is a comedy-drama centered around former Olympic bronze medalist Hope Ann Greggory (Melissa Rauch), who struggles with the limbo of being a past hero in her small Ohio town. When Hope is given a chance to secure a significant inheritance by training a promising young gymnast named Maggie Townsend (Haley Lu Richardson), she must confront her own bitterness and reassess her life.
