Mireia Ros is a versatile Spanish actress, filmmaker, and screenwriter born in Barcelona in 1956. She began her career in the late 1970s, notably appearing in the 1978 film The Dawn Rapists (Los violadores del amanecer). A self-taught artist, Ros successfully transitioned from acting to working behind the camera, directing and writing her own projects. Her directorial debut, the 1996 film La Moños, based on a popular Barcelona character, was nominated for a Goya Award for Best New Director in 1998 and selected for several international film festivals. She gained further critical acclaim for her 2006 film El triunfo, which was selected for the Berlinale's Panorama section and won two Golden Biznagas at the Málaga Film Festival. Ros has also directed the documentary film Barcelona before time erases it (2010), which won a Gaudí Award for Best Documentary. She continues to combine her work as a director and screenwriter with her acting career, with notable acting credits in recent years including a role in the 2012 horror film [REC]³: Génesis.
