Born on December 22, 1971, in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Asuka Kurosawa is a distinguished Japanese actress and former gravure model who has become a prominent figure in international cult cinema. She first gained significant acclaim for her fearless and transformative lead performance in Shinya Tsukamoto's 2002 film A Snake of June, which solidified her reputation for handling intense, psychologically demanding roles.
Kurosawa reached a new career milestone with her portrayal of Aiko Murata in Sion Sono’s 2010 masterpiece Cold Fish (Tsumetai Nettaigyo). In this dark, visceral thriller, she delivered a chilling performance as the complicit and equally sociopathic wife of a serial killer, earning praise for her ability to balance domesticity with extreme violence.
