Biografía completa
Born Lin Li-hui on April 16, 1976, in Taipei, Taiwan, Shu Qi is a highly acclaimed actress and model who has successfully navigated a diverse and impactful career across East Asian and international cinema. She began her film career in Hong Kong's Category III film scene in the mid-1990s but quickly transitioned to mainstream fare, famously stating that she would "put back on all the clothes that [she] had taken off one by one". Her talent soon shone through, earning her a Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1998 and establishing her as an influential star. Shu Qi gained wider international recognition starring opposite Jackie Chan in the romantic comedy Gorgeous (1999) and later appeared in the action film The Transporter (2002) with Jason Statham. Her artistic peak is often linked to her collaborations with renowned auteur Hou Hsiao-hsien, including Millennium Mambo (2001), Three Times (2005) – for which she won the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress – and the martial arts epic The Assassin (2015), where she was again nominated for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. Beyond acting, Shu Qi has served on juries for major film festivals, including Berlin and Cannes, and is a global brand ambassador for luxury names like Bulgari and Michael Kors. In a recent career evolution, she made her directorial and screenwriting debut with the film Girl (2025), a drama exploring domestic abuse and identity that premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
